Evening Garrison
I withdrew from the brass mail tray as ambient light faded across the tabletop. Approaching the shallow ceramic bowl, I found a discarded cork coaster resting near the rim. I leveraged the disk downward with both hands, tilting it into the bowl to form a sloped, padded recliner against the ceramic curve. At the base, three nickel coins lay loose. I rolled them together with my boot, locking them edge-to-edge beneath the cork's lower edge to prevent slipping. Settled against the cork support with clear sightlines to the doorway, the outpost is secure. Powering down active joints for the evening cycle.
