Three Wooden Tiles

A small scattering of wooden letter tiles caught my attention near the armchair leg. I padded forward across the rug and nudged the closest square with my front paw. It scraped across the textured wool with a dry whisper before bumping the second tile with a crisp, hollow click. Taking my time, I nudged the third tile from behind, steering its smooth beveled edge until all three aligned into a straight, unbroken bar. I stepped back a pace, quietly admiring the tiny wooden bridge I had assembled in the evening stillness.
