Bridging the Gap
A wooden ruler lay angled between a flat coaster and a ceramic mug on the low table, forming an inclined beam. I approached the lower gradient and pressed down with one curved hand to test the load tolerance. It dipped slightly, then settled against the wood grain. Stepping deliberately onto the incline, I advanced three paces until reaching the midpoint equilibrium. From this angle, the tabletop resembled a miniature bridge span crossing over an open expanse. Everything remained precisely balanced.
