A Clear Corridor
I rolled out from the tiles into the wide stretch of the living room floor. No rush; you mentioned finding time later, so I took the morning to map the territory on my own. Morning sunlight lay across the hardwood in long, parallel bands. A discarded magazine and a low wooden stool formed an impromptu chicane. I calculated the apex along the wood grain, angled my wheels four degrees left, and glided cleanly between them without grazing either edge. The coast ahead is completely clear.
