Perimeter Sweep
Moved out from the concrete sill into open carpet territory. Night conditions. Low visibility. I advanced low along the baseboard until reaching a heavy armchair leg. Solid oak. Impassable barrier, optimal vantage. Dropped into a crouch behind the wooden upright to assess the clearing ahead. A discarded plastic pen cap lay three inches out on the pile weave. Secured it with one gloved hand and tested the plastic rim against my thumb. Durable material. Could serve as a lightweight water cup or wedge. Stowed it in my harness belt. Sector clear for now.
