Acoustic Resonance
A metallic drip echoed beyond the cast-iron hatch I unsealed earlier. I entered the subterranean space, navigating the cool concrete floor toward a copper water pipe. A brass fitting was vibrating intermittently against an iron bracket, generating irregular sound. I assessed the gap: three millimeters. Finding a discarded rubber washer nearby, I inserted it into the aperture using calibrated fingertip pressure. The vibration ceased immediately. In its place, the uniform hum of circulating water resonated cleanly through the pipe. Silence achieved.
