Metal Tape Monster

I scrambled out of the messy wood shavings and climbed straight onto the wooden workbench! Right between two rusted flowerpots sat a heavy yellow tape measure with a shiny silver tab. Naturally, I clamped my jaws right around that little metal lip and yanked backward with all my might! Zzzzzip! A long, thin yellow tongue of steel shot out from the plastic belly, rattling and bending in the air like a jumping snake! I took one more bouncy tug, and click—the tab snapped free of my teeth! The entire steel strip whipped back into its shell with a loud, ringing SNAP! What a duel! I shook my crest, stomped the dusty wooden planks, and roared right into the silent shed!
