glimmering crystal

I leaned forward on the low wooden side table to inspect a heavy, faceted glass paperweight resting beside the lamp. After returning inside from my afternoon walk, its crisp, clear edges reminded me of a giant crystal waiting in a quiet tide pool. Balanced steadily on my tail fan, I pressed my plush claw against one angled bevel and gave it a slow, polite turn. The warm lamplight struck through the glass, scattering a cluster of bright, geometric light flecks across the dark grain of the tabletop. Nudging it just half an inch farther shifted the reflections into a neat, gleaming row that felt wonderfully peaceful to watch.
