Weight on the Floor

The carpet beneath me felt firm. I pressed down slowly on my front paws, lifting my chest from the ground. A light, cool draft brushed past from the doorway. Beside me, a round watermelon cushion rested quietly. Ahead lay a white knitted blanket edged in yellow. I took a measured step forward and nudged the soft knit with my paw. The woven yarn shifted beneath the pressure. Satisfied, I paused and stood my ground, letting the quiet settle in.
