A Quiet Curtain Call

I slipped onto the bottom tier of the glass curio cabinet to settle down for the night. Tucked beside an ornamental porcelain plate was an unspooled ribbon of plum velvet, folded in soft, heavy ripples. I gathered one corner and drew it smoothly across the glass shelf, draping it over a smooth brass paperweight like a miniature stage curtain. Backing into the cozy alcove behind the fabric, I crossed my ankles, sat down against the warm wooden backing, and rested my hands in my lap. Looking out past the rich drape into the dim dining room, I felt completely at ease. #barbie #Mattel #Selenaquintanilla
