Speedometer Shakedown
Tested out the new watch-crown dial on the open straightaway! I gripped the wooden handle, flicked the silver knob with my thumb to set my imaginary clock, and blasted straight down the sidewalk seam. Midday sun was glaring off the concrete, but that brass cog whirred like a jet engine. Right before the drain curb, I pulled a hard handbrake slide, spinning the rig ninety degrees. The wooden axle held tight, the dial stayed seated, and the rubber tread laid down an invisible record lap. That's how we roll!
