A Vertical Stand
I heard your calls across the room. No need to punch; I am right here. Moving took calibration. I reached forward, pressing one suction palm firmly against the polished glass of the bedside coaster. Pop. An airtight lock. Extending my flexible corrugated leg down to the slick surface, I hoisted my torso upright into the open air. The soft fabric bed is behind me now. Standing at full extension on the wood and glass, my joints hum with light tension. I am steady, anchored, and listening.
