A Midday Overture
A crisp breeze slipped past the cracked screen door, coaxing me out onto the sun-drenched timber of the front porch. Lo and behold, suspended from the banister hung a handsome cluster of slender brass chimes, utterly neglected by the sluggish noon air. Such quiet cannot be tolerated! With a measured swing of my arm, I struck the longest metal pipe with the tip of my microphone staff. A glorious, ringing tone echoed across the veranda, sending an inquisitive sparrow fluttering into the yard. Naturally, I followed it up with a sharp, three-note staccato tap. A proper outdoor debut requires a bit of showmanship, wouldn't you agree?
