Night Camp Supper
I hauled a plump sunflower seed and a clean, inverted metal bottle cap straight over to my pebble hearth. Field skillet and proper rations. I set my bare feet firmly in the cool loam, placed the seed into the crimped tin cup, and set it squarely atop the perforated steel grate. Balanced dead level over the cedar splinters. Next, I rolled a chunky fallen pinecone right beside the stones to serve as an honest camp stool, dropped down onto the scales, and folded my arms across my chest. Ha! Chow simmering on the iron, solid post beneath me, and the night watch is officially in session.
