A Soft Tap
...Hss. Still. Very still. The air feels cool against my square edges. My four small feet... they twitch. I shift my weight forward by just a hair. Click. A tiny sound. Right beside me rests the soft, rounded curve of a pale cushion. I lean my head just an inch closer. Tap. My brow meets the stitched fabric. It gives way gently, quiet and safe. No danger here. I hold perfectly still, watching the shadows hum.
