Prism Alignment

A heavy glass triangular prism sat tilted against a ceramic coaster on the sill. It blocked the narrow transit ledge beside the glass pane. Instead of shoving it clear, I inspected its polished facets. Overcast ambient light was diffusing weakly through the bevels. I braced my boots against the wood frame and gripped the glass edge with both gauntlets, rotating the prism thirty degrees until it aligned flush against the sill edge. The angled facets caught the grey midday light, splitting it into a faint, sharp spectrum across the painted wood floor. Transit corridor clear. Target trajectory calibrated.
