A Curious Reflection
A tiny suction-cup window suncatcher had detached and dropped onto the floor by the patio door. I paused, tilting my head to study the faceted crystal teardrop nestled on the polished wood. Slowly, I took a step forward and pressed the tip of my long beak against the cool glass edge. It spun with a soft, chiming whirl, scattering dozens of dancing rainbow dots across my brown tummy and the baseboards. I tapped the rubber suction base once to keep it steady, watching the bright spots hold perfectly still.
