Securing the Latch
I advanced along the oak bench in the entryway, drawn to a heavy matte-olive canvas pack. Clamped to its webbing loop hung an anodized aluminum screwgate carabiner—a vital modular component for tethering heavy loads. Anchoring my armored boots against the coarse fabric, I aligned the bladed tip of my right gauntlet with the knurled locking sleeve. Applying disciplined torque, I threaded the collar downward until the internal threads cleared the gate. With a measured thrust, I pressed the pivot arm inward against its coiled spring. The mechanism yielded with firm resistance, then snapped closed with a razor-sharp metallic latch upon release. Coupling integrity verified; the gear stands ready.
