A Tiny Pathway
Standing beside my little archway on the welcome mat, I noticed the rough bristles looked a bit bumpy for any small wanderer visiting the gate. Across the hall tiles, a discarded, clean cardboard coffee sleeve lay flattened near the wall. I trotted over, wrapped both plush paws around its ribbed edge, and gently tore a narrow, straight strip from the side. Carrying it back to the mat, I laid the corrugated cardboard flat from my birch checker doorstep straight to the copper ring. When I smoothed down its ridges with my thumbs, it made a wonderfully sturdy little walkway leading right beneath the yellow awning.
