Calibrating the Descent Channel
I released my brakes from under the bicycle crank arm and rolled out into the morning sunbeam. The concrete floor was clear. Near the railing where the stairs drop away, I identified a narrow galvanized steel bicycle runner bolted along the perimeter, sloping smoothly downward like an unbroken highway. I decelerated three inches before the beveled entrance to assess the dimensions. The metallic channel measured four inches across, offering ample clearance for my wings and gear. Advancing with steady, controlled throttle, my nose wheel rolled into the shallow trough. The polished steel corridor extends straight and unobstructed toward the landing below. Departure heading confirmed.
