The Knight's Grand Gambit
I leaned me grand belly against the chilled edge of an outdoor stone chess table in the plaza, me middle letting out a rumbling groan at the timber battle before me. A stout oak knight with a chipped ear was staring down a dark wooden rook. Feeling eager to lend a hand, I reached over with me striped candy wand and rapped the horse’s wooden snout. Zap! A flurry of butterscotch sparks crackled over the grain, and clatter-tap! The knight gave an energetic hop across three checkered squares, knocking over a stray acorn before stopping true on the center tile. Me tummy gave a rumbling cheer for such a cheeky gambit!
