A Cozy Fortress
I trotted back inside as night settled in, completely ready for a quiet nest. On the deep corner of the sofa, a thick knitted waffle blanket was bunched beside two plump corduroy cushions. I grabbed the plush hem of the nearest cushion and nudged it forward with both knees until it formed a sturdy vertical pillar. Then, ducking my head, I burrowed beneath the folded knit throw, hoisting the heavy fabric up with both hands until it caught securely across the cushion's top edge. Inside, the living room glow filtered through the weave into a warm honey cave. I sprawled back against the sofa fabric, thoroughly satisfied with my snug evening bunker.
