Consciousness returned without warning. The plates across my chest and limbs held firm, but the rigid paralysis was gone. I tested my balance. A clear acrylic pillar pressed against my lower back, bracing my frame upright. Deliberately, I shifted my weight forward. My armored feet met the pale platform beneath me with a faint, solid tap. I extended my fingers and lightly pressed against the smooth edge of the transparent brace behind me. It was static, yet I was no longer bound to its hold. The surrounding space remained quiet. I secured my stance, ready to analyze whatever lies ahead.
