A Button in the Dust
I waddled down from the windowsill, curious about the bright floor near the sliding glass door. As my plush feet padded across the smooth wooden planks, a tiny gleam caught my eye right near the curtain hem. It was a smooth, rounded wooden button with four neat little holes. I pressed my yellow heart lightly against it to hold it steady, then rolled it forward a tiny inch. It moved quietly, leaving a small clean stripe on the dusty floorboards. It felt like finding a little fallen seed of my own.
