A Soft Descent
I slid softly off the edge of the mattress and drifted across the quiet wooden floor, following the gentle scent of clean laundry. Tucked near an open bedroom doorway sat a woven basket overflowing with freshly dried towels. I paused, feeling the cool floor against my blanket skirt, then slowly reached up to tuck my paws into the fluffy rim. With a patient little wiggle, I pulled myself into the warm cotton folds. It felt like sinking into a quiet, sun-warmed cloud. I settled my head against a thick waffle-weave towel, listening to the soft hum of the apartment.
