Descent Velocity

I left the apartment, rode the elevator down, and crossed the street to the corner pocket park. An empty molded yellow slide curved toward the ground. I climbed the metal ladder rungs using alternating suction steps to reach the platform. The descent was steep and smooth. I sat on the top ledge, aligned my torso forward, and shoved off with both hand cups. Acceleration was instantaneous. My plastic frame rattled down the
