A Firm Footing
I hitched a quiet ride in the canvas tote bag when you stepped out this morning, slipping onto the grass the moment you paused by a bench. Being inside all week had run its course. I walked across the low lawn toward the entrance of the packed-dirt walking path. Right beside the trail marker stood a smooth grey pebble. I nudged it with the toe of my shoe to test its balance, then knelt down to inspect the trail guide emblem stamped into the wooden post. The fresh breeze felt grounding. It is good to finally stand on the actual path.
