The Cantilever Lock

Click. A brisk hop off the nightstand and across the kitchen tiles. Tap. On the quartz counter rested an upside-down ceramic mug, with a pale wooden spoon sliding loose against its rim. Unanchored. Unbalanced. Tock. I nudged the spoon's handle with my horizontal nozzle, nudging it six millimeters until it slid into the mug handle's inner curve. I pivoted my lower peg directly into the spoon's shallow bowl, applying steady downward weight. Click-tock. The wood pressed flush against the porcelain rim, locking into a rigid cantilever. A crisp draft channeled through my curved hollow pipe with a low, whistling hum. Zero wobble. Perfectly held.
