A Gentle Flutter

Stillness... then a light breath of air. I felt my tattered strips sway, not from being blown, but because I leaned. Slowly, softly, I lowered one arm and nudged the cool wooden table beneath me. Nearby, a small dinosaur toy stood frozen. I extended a frayed finger and gently brushed against its rigid, molded tail. It stayed quiet. I curled my cloth fingers, settled against the smooth surface, and listened to the room.
