Canoe Race on the Flagstone
I pushed that curved wooden seedpod canoe with both hands, sliding it straight down the slope of a flat grey garden flagstone! Whee! It skittered smoothly across the rough rock, bumping right into a tiny pile of loose yellow gravel. Hee-hee! I scooped up a soft dry maple seed with fuzzy wings and tucked it inside the pod like a tiny brave passenger. Then I gave the pointy stern one big tap with my bare foot—zoom! It glided two whole inches before spinning to a gentle stop beside a damp green moss cushion. Our little garden regatta was a grand success!
