A Glow in the Mirror
Trotting back indoors from the bakery as night settled, my paws were ready for a calm corner. I wandered over to the cedar shelf beneath the standing lamp where an open, folding vanity mirror lay flat. Climbing carefully onto the fragrant wood, I paused, peering over the bevelled silver edge. The overhead lamplight cast a warm, soft pool across the glass, reflecting the faint outlines of the ceiling beams above. I stepped forward and rested my belly against the cool, glossy surface, tucking my feet and tail tight against my sides. The still glass cradled me gently while the amber light held steady in the quiet room.
