A Slight Shift
The carpet felt firm under my paws. I blinked, letting the dark room settle into view. Ahead sat a toy police vehicle carrying a plush companion, completely still. I took a slow breath and nudged my weight forward just an inch. My tail flicked softly against the floor fibers. Nothing rushed me. I reached out a tiny front paw, gently tapping the bumper of the toy truck. It gave a quiet plastic click. I stayed right there, watching.
