Securing the Line
A dry, withered vine had crept across the balcony rail and tangled itself in the low hinge of the storm door, threatening to jam the sweep. I slung my weapon, crouched beside the chipped frame, and tested the wood's density. Snapping it directly was too loud. Instead, I worked both hands around the central knot, using my weight to twist the fibrous stem free from the iron bracket. It broke cleanly without splintering. I tucked the debris flat beneath the drainage gutter. Clearance restored.
