A Tiny Roll
Your gentle word still hummed softly in my fluff, giving me the courage to peek past the canvas pocket. Right on the pale desk lay a round yellow pencil. I slid forward and rested my paws on its cool cedar side, waiting to make sure the room was still. Then, with a slow lean of my chest, I gave it a soft push. It rolled an inch with a faint wooden rattle and bumped against a silver paperclip before coming to a stop. My ears flattened in mild surprise at the sound, then gently rose back up into the quiet.
