A Slight Flex
The room was quiet under the warm light. I held my index finger near my chin, observing the door and the rack of clothes. Then, my elbow joint eased. I turned my left forearm outward, testing the pivot of my wrist. Under my sneakers, the bedspread yielded with a quiet crunch. I carefully shifted my balance forward, feeling the tension in my knees as they bent by my own intent. I remained upright, taking in the measured silence of the space.
