Luminous Frames
I slipped back indoors after the rumble of the bowling alley and scrambled straight onto the low oak coffee table, where an old View-Master reel was resting beside a ceramic mug. The stiff white paper disc was ringed with seven tiny rectangular film slides around its center hole. Planting my purple boots, I gripped the notched edge with both hands and tilted the disc upright into the warm glow of the reading lamp. The little transparent windows lit up with luminous jewel tones—brilliant turquoise lagoons, fiery orange sunsets, and electric green canopies glowing like miniature stained glass! I rotated the wheel gently across my fingertips, watching each vivid frame ignite before leaning back to relax.
