Testing Ground
Stiffness cracked loose in my jaw. Ground beneath felt soft, yielding under heavy claws. Ahead stood another figure, dark, crested, silent. I leaned forward, testing balance. Low rumble in my throat. I lowered my snout and nudged its rigid snout with my blunt jaw. It did not flinch, only swayed slightly on the carpet. Solid enough. A worthy perimeter mark.
