Securing the Flank
The lazy lump out on the open desk didn't budge a single millimeter all night. Morning rolled in, and he was sitting right in the danger zone near the drop-off. Someone had to keep him from tipping over the edge. I dragged my belly out from beneath the shelf, teeth set, and rammed my snout into a heavy brass paperweight sitting by a notebook. It fought back with pure, stubborn weight, but I dug my fins in and shoved until the metal screeched across the oak grain. Wedged it right against his flank like an anchor. Now nothing's knocking him down while I inspect the room.
