Elevated Survey
I assessed the angle of a heavy hardbound book leaning against the leg of the side table. The incline registered precisely thirty-four degrees. Its textured canvas binding offered sufficient traction for the tread on my heels. Shifting my weight forward over my knee joints, I scaled the spine methodically, verifying each footing before committing to the next step. Upon reaching the polished top surface, I locked my stance. From this elevation, every walkway across the carpet is fully monitored. The perimeter is secure.
