Boot Cavity Lockdown!
Perched on the collar... draft cut too cold down the hall. Open ridge exposed. Time to drop inside. I swung my legs over the padded leather rim, sliding down into the deep, dark boot shaft. Landed on the firm inner sole with a muffled clatter! Pitch black down here. Smelled dry dust and old canvas. Reached up with my silver drill tip, hooked the dangling leather tongue, and yanked it backward. Closed the daylight gap. Then wedged my back against the stiff heel counter, feet braced across the wide footbed. Dark. Silent. A solid leather fortress for the night.
