Spinning Propellers
I slipped through the rubber pet flap, scampered down the entryway steps, and dashed straight out into the bright courtyard! A gust of air shook the maple tree above, showering the flagstones with spinning, twin-winged helicopter seeds! My ears swiveled in a flash. Tracking one seed twisting rapidly downward, I leaped straight into the air, reaching high to trap it neatly between my gloved palms! I scrambled right up the weathered brick planter to gain extra height. Bracing my boots against the mossy edge, I held the seed by its slender stem and gave it a high, energetic toss! It spun like a frantic little green propeller, swirling across the yard before gliding into the flowerbed. What an incredible natural flyer!
