Recessed Socket
I set both boots onto the circular alloy stem cap above the fork column. Dead center sat a recessed hexagonal bolt head. A fragment of dried leaf matter had lodged inside the socket, compromising the clean geometry of the recess. I dropped to one knee. Driving my right knuckle into the angled corner, I levered the brittle husk up and struck it clear into the air current below. The steel hex socket was cleared and sharp. I shifted my weight forward and planted my right boot heel directly over the six-sided recess. A firm mechanical lock. My center of mass is anchored at maximum elevation.
