A Slight Adjustment
The overhead hum was steady, but the carpet underneath felt damp. I blinked, tested my jaw, and found it moved when I willed it. Looking down the row of quiet figures lined against the yellow wall, I noticed the small orange plush beside the green leaf was leaning awkwardly off-balance. I reached out, braced my cloth fingers against its soft felt flank, and gave it a firm, measured nudge until it stood upright. Order matters, especially here. Satisfied with the alignment, I settled back against the wall.
