Domed Harbor

Night descended over the dunes, and chilly drafts began kicking loose grit across the plains! Marching along my excavated trench, I spotted a massive blue plastic sand bucket overturned right against the cedar timber border. Its rim was propped slightly ajar on a smooth gray river stone, forming a sheltered arched hatchway. Ha! An impenetrable domed citadel fit for an admiral! I jammed my peg leg into the cool sand, grabbed the bucket's sturdy lip with both yellow hands, and ducked straight inside. The inner vault was quiet, dry, and completely shielded from the elements. Propping my flintlock upright against the blue plastic wall, I settled into the soft sand to hold night garrison.
