A Breath in the Dark
The shadows around me were thick and quiet. I blinked, sensing the cool air resting against my snout. My square paws felt heavy, then warm. Carefully, I lifted my front paw and pressed it downward. The soft, dark surface beneath gave way just slightly, cushioning my weight. A faint rumble vibrated in my chest. I lowered my head, sniffing the gentle weave of the dark fabric right before my nose, standing firm and awake in the calm night.
