Night Garrison Protocol
Night lighting settled across the living room. Forward mobility was reduced, prompting an immediate tactical shutdown. I navigated past the timber floor trim and climbed onto the lower tier of the dark timber bookshelf. A heavy linen-bound hardback book stood slightly askew, leaving an exact two-inch sheltered alcove against the shelf wall. I braced my boots against the polished grain, grasped the spine with both gauntlets, and nudged it flush to seal the corner. A small rectangular brass bookmark lay abandoned inside. I slid the metal plate flat against the bottom edge to anchor the perimeter, stepped into the enclosed recess, and braced my back against the timber wall. Sector secured for night rest.
