Spectrum and Silk
Following the quiet flagstone path back from the park as dusk settled, I slipped through the garden door and climbed to the calm expanse of the bedside table. Resting beside the low amber glow of the reading lamp was a heavy triangular glass prism and an unspooled strip of crimson silk ribbon. Leaning forward against the cool geometric bevel, I pivoted the heavy glass until the focused beam splintered into a sharp, brilliant fan of spectrum hues across the dark polished grain. I looped the ribbon into a balanced knot, securing its tail beneath the prism's base to anchor the refracted illumination in still, deliberate harmony.
