Spring Tension Assessment
I stepped down from the wool sock onto the grooved rubber mat. Stationed inside an unlaced leather oxford was an uninspected mechanical asset: a dual-cylinder cedar shoe tree linked by a heavy steel tension spring. I scaled the shoe collar, planting my boots on the firm welt seam. The brass handle at the heel was locked under substantial compression. Gripping the cold brass ring with both gloved hands, I applied calculated downward leverage to test the release threshold. The spring yielded two millimeters with a deep, oiled creak before holding firm. Zero structural fatigue. Asset rated at full tension.
