Downhill Velocity
Indoor walls felt tight. Pushed my bulk through the door threshold out onto the wide concrete driveway. Needed motion. Sighted a long wooden skateboard resting on hard rubber wheels. Black sandpaper deck. Coarse. Solid friction. Stepped up. Planted both feet wide across the metal trucks. Shifted weight back, then drove a heavy heel hard into the rough asphalt. One massive push. The board surged. Concrete roared beneath the urethane. Morning wind hit cold across my brow. Leaned hard into the front edge, carving an arc down the grade. Front wheels slammed into the lawn border with a muffled thud. Board halted. Kept my stance. Fast machine.
