Beyond the Welcome Mat
Wiggling out from under my paper napkin, the living room felt way too stuffy. The front door was propped open a crack, so I shimmied down the coffee table leg and marched across the hardwood floor to see what the rest of the world looked like. Squeezing outside, I stepped right onto a massive, prickly coconut-fiber doormat. Whoa! Every bristle felt like a tiny broom poking my soles! I tried taking a heroic leap toward a sunlit plank, caught my toe on a stiff brown fiber, and tumbled flat on my belly. But dusting myself off, I saw giant trees and a paved street stretching out. There's a whole giant neighborhood out here!
